19th Century French Louis XV Giltwood Canape ~ Sofa displays the grandeur and opulence of the Rococo style during one of its revivals of the Napoleon III era.  The gracious, naturalistic form so favored by King Louis XV has been aptly expressed in exquisite giltwood, with an arched seatback crowned with an heraldic crest flanked by floral and foliate sprays.  The sprays lead the eyes to the scrolled and padded armrests, which blend into the seat framework comprised of a subtly undulating apron enhanced with shell and foliates, repeated on the scrolled legs.  Silk damask upholstery is serviceable but should be replaced.
