19th Century Country French Buffet A Deux Corps is a splendid example of hand-crafted furniture that was designed to last for several lifetimes!  Using old-growth oak, the large scale of the piece required quite a bit of the highly prized indigenous wood.  A bold crown overlooks the work, accented with multiple tiers of molding including dentil motif.  The upper tier is accessed with two hinged doors that are themselves hinged for a bifold function, allowing them to open without infringing on adjacent pieces or space.  They're held in Aplace with hand-forged bolt latches, and feature a total of 12 raised & recessed panels inset into the door frames.  The lower section is a massive buffet with more sedate molded detail around the drawer facades and two cabinet doors.  Raised & recessed panels even appear on the sides, with bold base molding an bun feet providing the support.  Such pieces were revered by affluent families, and designed to hold their entire collection of china, flatware and other sundries in one magnificent piece!
