19th Century Rustic Country French Coffee Table ~ Petrin is a delightful example of the art of re-purposing!  Originally a bit taller, it was designed as a compact bread making station, with a drawer for various baking tools, a lower sub-drawer for proofing rising dough, and a generous surface that allowed preparation, kneading, etc.  The top, interestingly, comes off to allow unfettered access to the upper drawer, which makes it even more functional in its current iteration as a coffee table!  Hand-crafted with time-honored pegged mortise & tenon joinery, it was constructed entirely of old-growth elm wood to literally last for centuries!
