Mid-Century Brutalist Black Marble Top Coffee Table expresses the style with panache! A counter-movement to the nostalgia of pre-1940s Europe, it rose in popularity during the 1950s during the reconstruction of England after the war. The emphasis on this style is structural, with the hand-hewn and block & beam construction techniques creating their own aestheticism. Here we see beautifully figured raw maple that has attained a nice patina, expressed in squared timbers and apron beams supporting a 5" thick slab of black marble that has distinctive rough-hewn edges all around. Suffice to say this table will easily last for many generations!
