18th Century Country French Louis XVI Buffet is a delightful example of rural craftsmanship wherein the smaller furniture makers in the outlying provinces emulated the styles set forth by the noble classes in and around Paris.  The influence of the classical revival is obvious, following the dictates of the court of Louis XVI.  Large, boldly carved square rosettes play a significant role on both sides of each main drawer above, and on all four corners of each cabinet door below, even at the bottom of the center stile.  A fanciful fern motif takes center stage, with subtle panel edge treatments and fine molded detail pervading the entire design.  Even the mitered corners are finely molded with tall, narrow vertical panels.  Brass key guards and a single pull on the cutlery drawer add nice accents.  Hand-crafted from select pieces of old-growth indigenous oak to literally last for centuries!
