18th Century French Directoire Period Country French Oak Buffet is a product of skilled labor using techniques handed down for generations, and utilizing indigenous old-growth oak to create a lasting family treasure!  The tailored lines of the design are a hallmark of the period between the Napoleonic Empire and the relatively brief resurgence of the French monarchy.  Here we see straight, rectilinear forms in the overall cabinet, the drawer facades and cabinet doors, enhanced only by the subtle molded detail.  Brass pull knobs on the three drawers, with brass key guards and hinges on the doors below add a minimalist decorative touch with emphasis on functionality.  The heavy, old-growth oak was quarter sawn and used in abundance to create a cabinet that was literally designed to last for centuries!
