19th Century Country French Brittany Confiturier ~ Cabinet was originally designed as a food storage piece for the kitchen.  Called a Garde Manger in France, it had openings in the door allowing airflow which at the time was considered healthful, contradictory to today's practice of sealing food thoroughly.  Being French, a decorative approach was employed, with spindles creating wagon wheel (or ship's wheel) designs around the foliate carvings which adorn the entire facade, including the sides and of course the full width drawer above, accessed with pendant pull.  An ideal choice for cozy niches and rooms with open floor plans.
