19th Century Rustic Petrin ~ Dough Box Table is a charming testament to a bygone era, when big supermarkets with a row full of different varieties of bread had not yet existed.  Folks were left unto themselves to provide daily bread, hence the development of this clever type of table.  The surface was used to prepare and knead the dough, and the top lifted off so one could proof, or let the dough rise while covered inside.  When breadmaking wasn't in progress, one still had a charming table to use in the room.  This example, rendered from solid oak, features a beautifully rendered rustic sunflower motif on each side, with turned legs for support.
