Antique Country French Walnut Buffet in the Regence Style

Antique Country French Walnut Buffet in the Regence Style is a splendid example of the genre, hand-carved from sumptuous indigenous walnut renowned the world over!  The style is the perfect transitional blend between the Louis XIV and Louis XV styles, and features artful renditions of timeless motifs such as shell, floral and foliates, all rendered as only the French can, with lifelike realism and splendid character.  Starting at the bottom, the boldly scrolled legs tipped with escargot feet feature a lavish acanthus plume on the shoulder, and bracket the undulating apron adorned with the aforementioned motifs in luxurious full relief.  The finely molded doors, stile and drawers above feature complementary carvings in the same caliber, punctuated by brass key guards and hinges.  The drawer tier includes a cutlery drawer between the main two drawers fitted with beautifully cast brass pulls.  An exceptional find!
