18th Century Country French Whitewashed Oak Commode was hand-crafted by rudimentary tools from solid, old-growth French white oak to last for centuries!  Crafted during the post Louis XVI period, it features a return to scrollwork adornment on the drawer facades accented by tailored cast brass bale pulls, all resting on scrolled legs and apron below.  Note the brass key guards which depict fleur de lys motifs.  Capacious storage makes it wonderfully functional after over 200 years!  Such pieces were considered indispensable in the days before an abundance of closets, and today find uses suitable for any room.  Note the hand-chamfered planks & panels on the back joined with pegged mortise & tenons, indicative of the workmanship throughout the piece.
