18th Century French Louis XVI Period Commode is a study in understated neoclassic elegance!  Hand-crafted from dense, old-growth indigenous oak, it features a stately rectilinear architecture enhanced by subtle carved embellishment.  Across the top edge appears hand-carved gadrooning.  The corners are carved with reeded fluting, with fluting across the lower apron between the tapered legs.  The four drawers, however, steal the show with exquisitely sedate wildflowers carved in gentle bas relief across the full width of each facade, centered with a bronze key guard.  Drawers open to reveal copious storage, as such pieces pre-date the proliferation of closets, and were necessary for keeping clothes neat and ready to wear.  Relatively shallow design ensures this will fit in many places throughout your home or office!
