19th Century Country French Commode is a timeless interpretation of the neoclassic style!  Hand-crafted by talented rural artisans, it features intriguing carved embellishment across the drawer facades that held a deeply symbolic meaning.  Crafted from carefully selected old-growth oak, it features spacious drawers for much-needed storage.  Each drawer has been carved with a trio of raised diamond panels, the outermost of which provide a mounting surface for the drawer pulls, and the center diamond for the key guard and lockworks.  Subtle foliates appear as well, but the most significant are the lovebirds flanking baskets on both sides of each drawer, symbolizing harmony in a marriage, indicating this was a wedding gift.  Fluted & reeded cornerposts, tapered legs, wheat bordering and egg & dart trim framing the drawers completes the overall visual effect.  Look closely to see the hand-crafted back and pegged mortise & tenon joinery.
