19th Century Country French Commode en Arbalette was rendered from fine old-growth oak by very talented artisans!  The facade of the drawers, especially when viewed from above, resembles the shape of an archer's bow, hence the descriptive term en arbalette.  At first one sees relatively tailored architecture, but upon close examination, the intricacies are revealed, with rounded and carved cornerposts transitioning with elegant curves into the facade with its special contour.  Carved shell, floral and foliates accentuate the facade, and are complemented by cast brass pulls and key guards.  Bold molding appears throughout the design, especially on the crown around the surface which mirrors the undulating lines of the casework below.  Even the sides are beautifully framed, molded and fitted with chamfered panels.  Capacious storage and style, all in one!
