19th Century Country French Louis XIV Commode is a wonderful example of fine craftsmanship from the Industrial Revolution period of European history!  Hand-crafted from solid quarter-sawn oak, it features a very subtle bowed front and corresponding contoured and beveled plank top, with the other surfaces flat and fitted with chamfered panels using pegged mortise & tenon joinery. Four scrolled legs provide support, with the front legs also adorned with acanthus plume and escargot carvings.  The primary appeal comes from the aforementioned subtly contoured drawer facades, each featuring shell, scroll and foliate motifs set in finely molded frameworks flanking the centers, which boast a cast bronze key guard to complement the cast bronze drawer handles, each set in its own four-stationed molding framework.  The arbalette-shaped apron, so named due to its archer's bow form, is also adorned with stylized shell scrollwork, and rosettes to complete the look.
