Early 19th Century Country French Louis XVI Stripped Oak Commode is a marvel of craftsmanship, all rendered in solid indigenous old-growth oak to last for generations!  The neoclassic-inspired architecture features a simply molded side panel with a fluted cornerpost up front adorned with wheat reeding in the flutes below, just above the turned leg, and a square rosette above, just underneath the finely molded top.  Pegged mortise & tenon joinery abounds in the design, but the most visually captivating aspect is the carved embellishment on the three drawer facades.  Stylized shell motifs in a fan-like structure emanate from raised diamonds upon which are mounted pulls and key guards, a decorative them popularized during the Directoire period.  Hand-carved wheat bordering encircling the drawer facades and across the apron below complete the look.
