Grand 18th Century Country French Commode represents the essence of tailored elegance!  Hand-crafted by talented rural artisans to emulate the styles set forth by the court, such pieces were commissioned to become instant family heirlooms, and were essential to civilized society.  This example, rendered on a grand scale, was designed for an equally grand chateau, and features four huge drawers that provide more than ample accommodation.  Each drawer features dual delightfully scrolled molding patterns surrounding the Rococo-inspired cast brass pulls, with elaborately cast brass key guards at the center of each drawer framed with wheat wreaths.  A subtly scrolled apron and legs below provide support.  The cornerposts were not left out, with rounded edges that are fluted and reeded with ripe wheat motif.  Note the hand-hewn back and pegged mortise & tenon joinery.
