19th Century French Louis Philippe Rosewood Drop Leaf End Table makes an excellent choice as a side table!  Hand-crafted from exotic imported rosewood, a wood that is harder and harder to find with each passing year, it was prized among furniture makers in Europe for its hardness, resistance to aging and sheer natural beauty, not even requiring stains!  This example is supported by four gracefully scrolled cabriole legs carved with acanthus plumes on the shoulders and oval crests with foliate scrolls just above.  The casework appears to have two keyed drawers accessed from one side, but a surprise drawer is underneath for additional storage possibilities.  When the leaves are down it takes up a minimum of floor space, but when the leaves are extended, independently supported, the table becomes a wonderful surface to expand its usefulness.
