19th Century French Louis XVI Giltwood Marble Top Table represents an impressive display of talented artisanry combining luxuriously veined, honed marble with the patinaed gold finish enhanced by pierce-carved sculptures on all four sides!  The table top form is a special neoclassic interpretation of a design that was meant to present no sharp corners into the room's normal traffic patterns.  The top's shape is enhanced by the amazing patterns in the rich stone top, which is surrounded by a double-beveled framework suspended by four tapered and fluted legs, with the flutes darkened for contrast.  The legs are rejoined below with curved stretchers that are carved with a Greek coin overlay pattern and centered with a raised rosette.  Turned and tapered feet raise the entire affair off the floor.  The piece de resistance, however, is the pierce carved apron on all four sides, exemplifying the timeless and classic acanthus leaf pattern in an elaborate scroll design, carved completely through the apron in a feat of artistry that cannot be denied!  Even the rounded ends were sculpted in this manner, making this table an exceptional choice for placement anywhere in any room!
