19th Century Italian Renaissance End Table is an elaborately sculpted example of the beautiful artistry for which the Italian masters are so well known.  The sheer natural beauty of the walnut is most evident in the plank top, finished with a nice beveled edge all around, which is important, because the framework below is completely carved on all four sides, making this an excellent example of a table that can be placed anywhere in the room one desires!  The carved detail is astonishing, from the lions' heads that appear on each corner facing in all directions, and again at the middle of each apron, and even on the juncture of the legs below!  On the apron, the lions are accompanied by elegant foliate in relief, set on stippled backgrounds, with dashed trim separating the apron from the scrollwork below utilized as an artistic finishing effect.  The legs conjoin in the same manner as the dagobert chair design, a technique that dates back thousands of years, and are connected at the juncture and halfway down to the floor, and again just above the floor with stretchers that have also been carved.  Scrolled feet on each corner completes the look.
