19th Century French Louis XVI Walnut Armoire is a stunning testament to the artistic talents of French cabinetmakers who took such crafts to new heights during the period.  Stately, tailored neoclassical architecture forms the basis for the casework, with a comparatively shallow profile combined with a total overall height of just under 8 feet making it compatible with more rooms than most.  Centered on the bold crown molding is a lovely sculpture of an amazingly lifelike rose spray, with olive branches extending under the shadow of the molding.  Just below that a full-width tier of banded laurel creates a border in stunning relief.  Framing the laurel are two rosettes on each corner.  And that's just the crown!  The doors below feature arched, beveled mirrors surrounded by framework that has been lavished with floral and foliate motifs, with olive branches emanating from rosettes at the top of the cornerposts as well as the top of the center stile.  Half way down the corners and the center stile are rosettes framed above and below with olive sprays, with another complementary carving appearing at the base of the stile.  The apron has been adorned with ribbon and olive branches and rosettes on the corners, all supported by tapered and fluted legs.  Doors open wide to reveal a capacious interior fitted with one adjustable shelf which has drawers mounted underneath, and even the drawer facades are carved!  Original brass hinges with finely detailed finials still intact combine with the elegantly contoured cast bronze door pulls to complete the look.
