19th Century French Louis XV Walnut Marble Top Buffet is a stunning testament to the cabinetmaker's art!  Rendered from sumptuous French walnut, considered the premier indigenous European furniture wood, it features a complex architecture with rounded, stepped-back open sides.  Scrolled legs carved with acanthus plumes and escargots provide support to the undulating contours of the apron, which is carved with floral and foliate motifs in three places.  Above the apron appears the pair of doors of the cabinetry, each stepped out a couple of inches to create an interesting visual appeal from all angles, especially in combination with the rounded, open shelf sides.  The doors are hung with brass hinges and fitted with bronze key guards, and are carved with elegant shell and foliate motifs in a framework design.  Even the cornerposts are rounded and carved with matching foliates providing a framework for the doors.  Above each door appears a drawer carved with motifs matching the cornerposts, and fitted with luxuriously cast bronze pulls.  To top it all off, an exquisitely veined marble slab has been contoured and beveled to follow the complex contours of the casework below.  Amazing storage, display and style, all with a French flair that cannot be denied!
