18th Century French Louis XVI Period Commode in Stripped Oak is an unusual artifact from the same period as the early years of our incredible country, created while France was actively involved as an ally in our own revolution.  Drawing from classical Greek and Roman architecture, the design features a rectilinear casework supported by an undulating apron and scrolled legs reminiscent of the previous period's style of Louis XV.  The carved embellishment are pure Marie Antoinette, Louis XVI's queen, who was infatuated with gardens of all types.  Incredible depictions of wildflowers in bas relief with ribbon appear all across the facade, with olive branches added to the theme on the rounded cornerposts and across the apron.  Even the scrolled legs have been carved for a special touch!  The drawers also boast finely detailed cast brass pulls and key guards in timeless styling to add just the right amount of accent.
