19th Century French Louis Philippe Marble Top Walnut Commode is the ideal choice for the tailored decor ~ not too formal yet not too casual. Hand-crafted in the middle of the 1800s, it features the trademark serpentine upper tier that houses a drawer within the molding form, as well as another drawer concealed as the baseboard below. Three "normal" drawers appear in the middle, for a total of five spacious places to store your clothes or linens. The artisans also carefully bookmatched finely figured walnut veneering across the facade for interesting visual appeal, as the style is known for its lack of carved detail so common in other French styles. The original "sandwich" marble rests on top, so named for the groove along the edge, which was the style during the period. The interesting geological patterns in the marble combine with the carefree nature of the surface to complete the overall understated elegance of the piece!
