19th Century French Louis XV Walnut Marble Top Semainier ~ Lingerie Chest is as the name suggests, a piece that provides a drawer for every day of the week!  Literally designed to provide storage space as dictated by the weekly calendar, its seven drawers are crafted from fine French walnut, as is the entire casework, then framed with tailored molding and centered with a Rococo-inspired carved shield surrounding the keyhole on each drawer.  The drawers are framed at the top by fine molded detail including a tier of egg & dart trim, above which appears a luxuriously veined marble top.  The drawers are framed on the sides by rounded cornerposts carved with stylized shell and fluting, leading the eye down to the gracefully scrolled apron flanked by a brace of scrolled legs carved with acanthus plumes and escargots.  Perfect for today's more open floor plans, it takes up a minimal amount of floor space yet provides a charming visual effect and of course incomparable utility in storage!
