Antique French Louis XVI Marble Top Marquetry Commode was hand-crafted with a beautifully contoured and mitered marble top that follows the contours of the step-front casework below with flares for the back legs adding a nice touch.  The woods used in the facade of each piece range from walnut to maple to satinwood and more, with an artistic rendering of a cupid playing the flute with sheet music surrounded by a laurel wreath, and intricately designed bordering pervading the entire exterior, even the sides!  An added visual treat is supplied by cast bronze adornments, from Greek coin and Greek wave across the topmost drawer to bundled laurels to acanthus leaves, angelic faces and incredible classical motifs  The corner edging on the legs are all completely protected by the metalwork, on down to the upturned acanthus leaves on the feet.  Three spacious drawers each provide lots of sensible storage.
