Antique Italian Neoclassical Painted Marble Top Commode represents the culmination of thousands of years of style and elegance!  Created by E. Reyneri & Cie of Milano, it features bold, rectilinear architecture which provides a solid casework for the four drawers which open to reveal capacious storage.  The most amazing features are the hand-carved embellishments highlighted in gold for emphasis, mated to the luxuriously veined, richly colored marble top.  The rounded cornerposts are both fluted and reeded, and are topped with vertical rectangular rosettes, while at the bottom are horizontally oriented but matching rosettes.  Between the bottom rosettes appears a full width Greek coin bordering, under which is the bold base molding supported by legs that are carved to depict upturned acanthus plumes.  All the carving stands out with the patinaed gold coloration.  The casework is two shades of a pastel green, one a bit darker and more olive toned, providing even more subtle visual appeal.  Cast bronze drawer pulls in the shapes of laurel garlands suspended by ribbon are fitted to each drawer, which are also centered with a classical key guard, with each drawer outlined in dash and dot molding.  The rich veining and coloration of the marble top is amazingly beautiful, providing an opulent yet carefree surface for the entire work.
