Early 19th Century French Charles X Marble top Mahogany Commode was crafted using exotic imported mahogany arranged in bookmatched flame pattern that accentuates the sheer natural beauty of the wood obtained through arduous means from the Americas during the period.  A classical design that features style cues from the preceding Empire period yet is a portent of the coming austerity of the reign of Louis Philippe, it features carving only on the demilune feet, with scrolled, projecting corner post enhancement, four spacious drawers, and the top drawer being extended out for a subtle visual effect.  Exquisite bronze key guards enhance the flame mahogany facade, and lead the eye up to the charcoal colored gray marble top.
