PAIR Antique French Louis XVI Marble Top Marquetry Commodes is a truly rare find indeed!  Hand-crafted by the same artisans, each is identical in most every way, but subtle differences can be discovered through close observation, just like identical twins!  Each has a beautifully contoured and mitered marble top, but each was cut from different places in the original slab for a nice subtle contrast.  The woods used in the facade of each piece range from walnut to olive wood to satinwood and more, with an artistic rendering of a cupid playing the flute with sheet music surrounded by laurel wreaths and swags, and intricately designed bordering pervading the entire exterior, even the sides!  An added visual treat is supplied by cast bronze adornments, from Greek coin across the top to bundled laurels to acanthus leaves, angelic faces and flowing ribbon!  The corner edging on the legs are all completely protected by the metalwork, on down to the upturned acanthus leaves on the feet.  Two spacious drawers each provide lots of sensible storage, while the commodes are destined to provide a timeless, classic symmetry to the room of the new lucky owner!
Circa early 1900s
Each measures 31.5H x 38W x 19D
