Pair 19th Century French Empire Bronze Candelabra were hand-crafted during the waning years of the Napoleon III Period, and exhibit an unmatched level of artisanry and craftsmanship!  During the First Empire Napoleon and Josephine revitalized design elements from ancient Egypt during his reign, in acknowledgement of his conquests in Northeastern Africa, no matter how short-lived.  Napoleon's nephew, III, revived all the most notable French styles dating back to the 12th century making the Napoleon III period one of the most fascinating in French history.  This pair, with the elegant herons atop the center bobeche, features astounding detail with intricately scrolled arms connected to the elaborately detailed shafts, cast with spiral ivy and vine motif leading the eye down to the tripod base fitted with lion's haunch legs.  The herons are removable, and can be used as candle snuffers.  Amazingly, the pair has survived intact for over a century and a half in impeccable condition!
