Antique French Library Ladder is an intriguing curiosity that harks back to the days before computers, when virtually all knowledge was stored with books.  The fortunate and affluent were able to keep libraries both large and small, and for the larger ones that went up to the room's ceiling, a ladder was required for access.  This somewhat portable version has steps like a staircase with a handle at top to steady one's stance while perusing the upper shelves.  Simply but sturdily constructed out of solid oak to last for generations!
