19th Century French Louis XV Walnut Marble Top Nightstand is a classic example of the genre, rendered in sumptuous French walnut and topped with beautifully veined marble for a timeless effect.  The front facade has a beautiful contour and has been carved on the faces of the drawer and the apron, but most notably on the cabinet door.  Exquisite floral and foliate renderings have been sculpted on all three surfaces, glorifying the beauty of nature and made even more alluring by their being carved into such beautiful wood.  Brass knobs add a nice accent, and the cabinet door opens to reveal a marble lined interior.  The drawer is flanked by two shells leading up to the contoured molding surrounding the marble surface.  Four graceful cabriole legs provide support, each carved on the shoulders with acanthus plumes and on the feet with escargots.  Although it's not carved on all sides, it is finished on all sides, so is suitable as an end table or side table in a seating group, making a great spot for a lamp with a drawer for remote controls and a cabinet for books and magazines.
