19th Century French Renaissance Buffet with Rounded Sides was rendered from solid oak to last for centuries!  Although the design includes column pediments which on paper make the 23.5" depth look inordinately large, the rounded sides mitigate the impact on the traffic flow.  Classical architecture includes the aforementioned columns which are tapered and fluted and adorned with acanthus plumes towards the bottom and Corinthian capitals on top.  Above the capitals are pyramidal plinths which separate the front facade from the rounded sides.  The upper surface follows the contours and provides a spacious serving or display surface.  Four drawers, two of each on the ends pivot out, are carved with subtle embellishment and fitted with heavy and finely cast bronze pendant pulls.  The base molding features multiple tiers for an incredibly solid base that looks the part, fitted with bun feet.  However, it is the cabinet doors that truly steal the show!  The bounty of the earth has been captured by a very talented sculptor in glorious full relief featuring fruit, grapes and lions' heads in masterful depictions of the blessings of our creator, all deeply and artistically rendered in solid old-growth oak.
