Grand Antique Renaissance Revival Buffet is a magnificent expression of the cabinetmaker's art, produced on a grand scale for a larger space.  Hand-carved from solid oak, it features a heavily gadrooned border all around the top carved with acanthus leaf motif.  The top surface is large enough to accommodate a banquet feast or to display copious amounts of decorative accents and family heirlooms.  Three large drawers appear directly under the top, separated by Baroque-inspired carvings, with each drawer exhibiting beautiful molded detail and fitted with cast brass pulls.  The carvings between the drawers are complemented by those on the rounded cornerposts, and underneath all of those carvings appear carved pilasters, with those on the corners also being rounded, leading the eye down to the base molding which is an expanded version of the trim around the top, fitted with bold mirror-image acanthus plume flourishes serving as the feet.  Between the pilasters, however, appears the cabinet door panels, each sculpted with various classical and mythological scenes in relief, set inside scrolled molding which serves as a framework.  One can gaze at this exquisite piece for hours and still discover nuances anew.  Drawers and doors open to reveal cavernous storage, with attention to detail even on the inside, with inlaid bordering appearing on the shelf edges.  Truly an example of quality at the highest level!
