Late 19th Century Louis XIV Walnut Armchair ~ Fauteuil with Antique Tapestry boasts a carved walnut frame and antique tapestry upholstery, bringing together sculptural French design, historic craftsmanship, and the romantic character only age can create.
The walnut frame follows the grand tradition of French fauteuil design, with boldly scrolled arms, carved supports, shaped stretchers, and a strong architectural silhouette.  The wood has developed a deep, time earned patina, giving the chair warmth, depth, and a sense of permanence that belongs to fine 19th century furnishings.
The tapestry upholstery is over one hundred years old and features a decorative pattern of scrolling foliage, floral motifs, and stylized birds in soft blue, cream, ochre, and muted earth tones.  Its weathered condition is part of its antique character, adding texture, authenticity, and the quiet poetry of age. Brass nail-head trim frames the seat and back, finishing the chair with a traditional tailored detail.
A beautiful accent chair for a library, bedroom, entry, or fireside seating area, this fauteuil offers the romance of Renaissance Revival design with the lived beauty of antique tapestry and carved walnut craftsmanship.
