19th Century French Renaissance Trunk dated 1877 is a truly special keepsake piece your family can enjoy for generations!  Commemorating the date of 1877 on one side and the initial B on the other, it was probably produced as a wedding or anniversary gift for a lucky couple.  The panels appear older than that date, so it is possible the chest was created from older panels into its current form.  Hand-forged steel hinges connect the top, and the carvings on the top and three facades are incredible, highlighting the obvious skills of a talented sculptor.  Included with the featured foliate rosette-style panels are border moldings of Greek coin and wave accented with smaller rosettes.  Even the front legs are completely enveloped in carved detail creating a truly unique and arresting presence.  Top opens wide to reveal copious storage, as icing on the cake!
