Pair 19th Century French Louis XVI Marble & Bronze Cassolettes represent the epitome of affluence!  Hand-crafted from exquisitely veined marble and festooned with bronze mounts from the top to the base, such a pair was a sign of wealth and success and would be proudly displayed on a buffet or mantel in the main room of the home.  The architecture is derived from ancient Greece and Rome, and the embellishments draw from classical themes such as floral swags, foliate bordering, ribbon and graceful swans serving as handles.  The base features lotus petals in a fleur de lys pattern, a flared and detailed pediment set upon a contoured marble base.
Circa 1880s
