Pair Antique French Louis XVI Caned Side Chairs are perfect choices for any room, especially Southern climates where the caned seats really show their advantage of keeping cool.  Frameworks are entirely constructed from solid oak, and feature a rectilinear neoclassical architecture that includes four tapered and fluted legs supporting the caned seats, underneath which is a reinforcing apron all around carved with spiral ribbon bordering.  Lotus blossom petals are carved into the transitions between the seat and seat backs, with the seat backs also treated to the same spiral ribbon bordering, and a beaded bordering inside that, similar to a frame around artwork.  Of course, if you consider the sculptured back splat depicting a torchere lavished with flowers at the top transitioning to intertwined floral garlands to be art, you would be correct, making the picture frame effect of the surroundings perfectly appropriate!  Note that the back splats are not identical, either.  The other one is carved to depict an urn with flowers cascading from the lip.
