19th Century French Louis XIV Painted Trumeau features classically inspired architecture and elaborate bas relief and molded detail highlighted in gold to complement the warm beige patinaed painted finish of the woodwork.  Unlike typical trumeaux with a painting or tapestry above the mirror, this work relies on the incredible artistry of the wood sculptor who artfully depicted musical instruments including a violin, pan flute and tambourine, all tied together with flowing ribbon and fully laden grapevines.  The oval topped mirror is surrounded with shell and foliate flourishes, with a dramatic stylized shell crown on top, all of which complements the musical theme above.  A border of foliates highlighted in gold creates a secondary framework for the main framework around the mirror which includes scrollwork and acanthus leaf adornment with gold highlights.  The mirror is perfectly proportioned to provide a lovely reflection of your room and amplify ambient lighting.
