19th Century Italian Louis XIV Baroque Mirror in Stripped Fruitwood is a unique work, resembling the stern transom of an old sailing ship.  A plethora of classical motifs blend with Renaissance-inspired embellishment to create this special look.  The subtly arched crown is pierce-carved with foliates cascading across the top and blended into the framework which displays an heraldic crest form at the center, surrounded by fanciful foliates and stylized florals carved in relief.  Flanking each side are angled columnar style uprights in the form of classically styled columns set at an angle then lavished with carved detail that continues the theme set on the crown.  Lavishly adorned plinth blocks at the base are joined by the lower traverse, which combines three distinctive foliate designs centered with an acanthus plume over fruit, for a wonderfully symbolic and beautiful finishing touch.  The mirror provides a lovely reflection of the room, and the entire affair is of a size that makes it convenient for a wide variety of decorative applications.
