19th Century Dutch Baroque Mirror is a fascinating work, resembling the transom of a Dutch galleon.  Most probably commissioned by a high-up maritime official, perhaps even a ship's captain, the work features amazing hand-carved detailing completely surrounding the mirror, with a lion's crest centered at the top subtly painted to add opulence.  Bold foliate and scrollwork motifs abound in the work, recalling the glory days of huge merchant ships plying the ocean blue!
