19th Century French Napoleon III Period Gilded Mirror is a stunning representation of the pinnacle of artistry in decor that defined the second French empire!  The main beveled mirror remains in very good condition, obviously well preserved over the decades.  It is surrounded first by a thin border of beading, and then a tier of etched mirror with floral spray patterns cut into the glass for a splendid effect.  Each corner is defined by rounded bas relief detail.  Then, the outer bordering surrounds the entire affair with gadrooning, acanthus flourishes at the base, and fruit appearing at the upper shoulders.  Atop the work is a glorious artwork of two cherubs flanking an heraldic crest surrounded by mythical beasts, acanthus plumes and bounty-of-the-earth symbolism festooned with flowers and stylized shells.  The gold finish has achieved a lovely patina over the past century and a half, providing an accent piece that will not only command attention in the room, but also provide a lovely reflection of the rest of your decor!
