Antique Italian Renaissance Carved Wood Mirror is an intriguing design, with elegantly scrolled acanthus leaf motifs surrounding four boldly carved scallop shells centered on each side, all pierce-carved completely through the frame.  The frame is also angled out from the perimeter to extend the mirror more into the room a few inches, providing an intriguing three dimensional visual effect.  The mirror silvering is in excellent condition thanks to the solid wood planks on the back that protect the silver.  The most interesting aspect is, although it is a rectangle, the framework is the same design all around, so one could use it in a vertical position, or lay it horizontally if width is desired over height.  As beautiful as it is versatile!
