A wonderful example of a decorative element popular in France for over 400 years, this 19th Century French Neoclassical Painted Trumeau features an embossed design atop the mirror, with timeless architecture and embellishment that dates back to the ancient Greeks and Romans.  Original painted finish has achieved a lovely patina over the past century and a half!  During the reign of Napoleon III examples like this were produced in a wide variety of styles, with the Louis XVI style being the most prominent.  Finely molded detailing appears across the crown and in two tiers around the original beveled mirror, while the panel on top has received the sculptor's touch with ribbon, floral sprays, garlands, and a romantic painting at the center.
