Antique Country French Commode ~ Chest of Drawers represents the culmination of generations of craftsmanship handed down for centuries!  Crafted from solid quarter-sawn oak, it features a plank top with a double beveled edge all around, significant due to the complex contours starting at each corner, and most notable at the center of the design.  Both massive cornerposts in front are rounded and finished with molding detail carved right into the post itself.  They provide a framework for the tailored yet subtly complex contours of the facade, consisting of three large, spacious drawers.  The front of each drawer was cut from a single plank, again with molding carved right into the plank itself, defining three panels, one each for the pair of finely cast brass pulls, and a center one for the intricately cast brass key guard.  The multi-tiered base molding below follows the intricate form of the casework, and is supported by straight posts in the back and turned legs in front depicting an urn form.  With the fine molding at the top and base continuing to the wall, the sides are fitted with simply framed chamfered panels.  Literally designed to last for centuries, this piece will bring a smile to generations of your family!
