18th Century Country French Marble Top Commode was considered a luxury during its era, when closets had yet to be invented and having lots of clothes was reserved for the more affluent.  Crafted from fine French walnut, it features a gracefully contoured facade which is accentuated by tailored shaping and luxuriously detailed cast bronze key guards and drawer pulls.  Supported by scrolled legs flanking the undulating apron fitted with a cast bronze mount, it has been topped with gray and white contoured and beveled marble.
