19th Century French Regence Giltwood Armchairs ~ Fauteuils are an exceptional example of the transitional style that bridged the gap between the Louis XIV baroque era and the Louis XV style which ultimately morphed into the Rococo Movement.  Utilizing familiar baroque themes and motifs, the style is known for a more graceful, naturalistic effect and presence, resulting in elegance that is not too imposing.  Designed for larger frames, this pair is ideal for today's physiques, boasting not only high, arched seat backs but generously wide seats.  Ergonomically contoured armrests add comfort, designed prior to the coining of the word 'ergonomics'.  Adornment includes various iterations of acanthus plumes and shell designs, all executed on curvaceous cabriole forms of the armrest supports, each of the four legs, and even on the graceful undulations of the apron which is also executed on all four sides.  Such a design lends itself to placement anywhere in the room for your visual enjoyment and expression of your obvious good taste!
