Antique French Louis XIV Armchair ~ Fauteuil exudes a majestic presence making it perfect as a focal point in any seating area, or as a stand-alone work or reading station.  The frame was hand-crafted on a relatively large scale from solid sycamore, and features a generous, high seat back attached to two elegantly contoured armrests the are tipped with scrolls.  The ends of the armrests are in turn supported by boldly scrolled uprights that are part of the single cornerposts upon which the front of the frame is affixed.  Below the seat, the scrolls are mirrored then lead the eye down to the escargot style feet.  The generous seat is fully upholstered like the seat back in a fine, high-quality fabric, and was relatively recently done making the chair very serviceable.  Below the seat appears a magnificently carved apron expounding upon the scrollwork of the aforementioned legs, and centered with a flower and foliate crest.  Legs are connected with a finely turned "H" stretcher for stylish support.
