Pair 19th Century French Louis XVI Giltwood Armchairs with Silk are as comfortable as they are beautiful to behold!  The timeless architecture of the ancient Greek and Roman civilizations has been reimagined in this neoclassical revival pair, with broad oval seat backs and even more broad and capacious seats, all upholstered in striped silk, combining to provide excellent comfort.  The frames, however, steal the show!  Starting at the top, pastel jewel tones enhance the floral spray carved into the crown, set upon an encircling spiral ribbon and beaded molding detail that blends into the uprights with lotus plumes, and the armrests that are padded, and supported with scrollwork adorned with acanthus plumes.  Spiral ribbon also encircles the entire apron, which is supported by four tapered and fluted legs with inverted teardrop feet, all with an exceptional gilt finish that has attained a lovely patina over the decades.  The back sides of the chairs have been upholstered in the same fabric, making these an excellent choice for placement anywhere in the room!
