Pair of 19th Century French Louis XVI Walnut Armchairs ~ Bergeres represents the epitome of the neoclassic style! Lovingly hand-crafted from select, sumptuous French walnut, each features a tailored architecture enhanced by scrolled armrest supports, tapered legs, a bowed apron and lavish wood sculpture adornment. Most noticeable is the spray of laurel with ribbon centered on the seat back crown, with pomegranate finials on each corner. Acanthus leaves and scrolls appear on each armrest, with the apron adorned with egg & dart molding accented with rosettes atop the spiral fluted, tapered legs. Upholstery shows age but is of original high quality damascene mohair.
