19th Century Country French Hall Bench is a masterpiece of the woodcarver's art!  The undulations of the arched seatback are framed with carved molded detail which provides a framework for the artistry of the relief carving that appears on the entire seatback itself.  Stylized shell, floral and foliates dominate the work, with cross-hatching and elegantly scrolled bordering.  Subtly scrolled armrests lead the eye down to the front apron panel in three parts, with carved molding and foliates represented.  Seat lifts up to provide convenient storage, and four tapered and turned legs lift the bench up to a proper nineteen inch high seat height.  Note the pegged mortise & tenon joinery, a sign of pride of craftsmanship!  Hand-crafted from old growth oak to last for generations.
