19th Century Flemish Renaissance Carved Hall Bench is a truly special example of the genre, sculpted from dense, old-growth oak to last for centuries!  The bold urn-shaped front legs are topped with a plinth upon which the spooled armrest supports are mounted.  The armrests are very subtly contoured and scrolled and carved with fletching motif across the top.  The sturdy, solid plank bench seat is trimmed with hand-carved edging all around, and connects to the sturdy column uprights in the back that are one piece from the floor to the top of the posts carved with lions' heads.  Greek coin carving adorns the front face of the seatback posts, which frame the four intricately carved panels on the seatback itself, which is slightly canted back to increase comfort.  The seatback panels features stylized floral and pinwheel designs, and are framed across the top and in between with an intriguing overlay pattern unlike any we've seen.  Pegged mortise & tenon joinery was used throughout the design to ensure this keepsake will bring smiles to your family's faces for generations to come!
